History

Early Life

Ethel was born into an aristocratic family and enjoyed a life of wealth and luxury. Growing up, Ethel obtained a private education from an elite school, which was not offered to the ordinary women of her time. In addition to her education, Ethel learned the value of networking and building connections with people to court favor down the road. This is where Ethel uses her skills in communication to build new relationships and market her ideas quickly. In her 20s, Ethel denied an arranged marriage and was cast out of her family, cut off from all the connections and affluence of her parents. Ethel ran off with her late husband, Arthur Dawkins, to Johnstown, Pennsylvania. Arthur was a single child of a coal-mining family, so when Ethel and Arthur moved, they had no money. Arthur would sadly pass away of natural causes (old age) in 1888, a year before the flood that would take out Johnstown, destroying Ethel's house and all her belongings. After losing her husband, and her house, Ethel decided to take a train across the country to explore the country and meet new people.

Later Years

Years later, Ethel would find herself in a beautiful commonwealth rife with commotion due to the discovery of gold, causing a surge of new citizens trying to make it rich from the gold rush going there. Ethel would find work at the school as an herbology teacher under the Headmistress Morag E. Goul alongside another colleague, the beautiful Ms. Phillis Franklin. In addition to assisting a school, she also used her gardening skills to form a Gardening Society to help all those who are down on their luck get food and make some money. She would end her time assisting a local Apothecary with creating scents for perfumes and hair oils. During her travels, Ethel would develop arthritis, back pain, dementia, cataracts, and just general signs of aging. From this, she often requests her prescription to be filled at the doctor's but is denied due to substance abuse allegations. Ethel, having met and seen so many, was ready to see more of the country, find new plants, make new recipes, and see what she could learn.

Arrival To Monroe

Ethel, on her grand tour of the country, was on a cheap train, as she couldn't afford much and did not have much to bring with her. So she brought the essentials, her flower hat, purse, a change of clothing, and pieces of her cutlery set made by a wonderful friend. However, the train Ethel took had lost control and derailed, breaking down in the beautiful county of Monroe; here, Ethel was escorted to Saint Denis, where she had the pleasure of running into many wonderful new faces. Even a geriatric doctor was very quick to notice her potential substance abuse problems.

Character

Personality

Ethel is charming and will say "Hello, Dears" to anyone she passes. Often causing many delays in tasks, she must perform as she gets quickly caught up in conversation. Ethel also only sees the good or potential good in people, so she overlooks red flags in others. This often causes her to be an easy target for being robbed or taken hostage. Everyone can be her grandchild, and she often offers those needing a family a spot in her growing family tree. Ethel will often rename things and leave it up to the other person to figure out what she meant.
