</p>On September 3rd, 1876, Dawson West was born in Tallahassee, a young but developing town near the Florida border. A few years after Dawson was born, his mother Dorothy West fled, never to be heard from or seen again, leaving Cain West to raise Dawson by himself. When Dawson was two years old, Cain began pursuing a goal of his: running a newspaper outlet.</p>

Throughout his travels with his father, Dawson saw all sorts of crime and witnessed people at their worst, but he never gave the other side of the law much thought.</p>

</p>In 1893, when Dawson was 17 years old, he was in Georgia with his father in the relatively small yet sizable town of Albany. Dawson saw local deputies outside of a local business and saw a shootout break out between outlaws and deputies. As the scene developed into a bloody mess, Dawson sat in excitement down the street and watched as it unfolded. After Dawson had the opportunity to visit the site, take notes, and speak with a deputy, and he thought it would be a fantastic story to tell back in Tallahassee.</p>

Dawson left Florida when he hit 19 years of age in order to pursue a police enforcement profession that would provide him with more excitement, and after reading numerous papers about the state's crime in local publications, he decided to travel to Monroe. Almost 4 years later being in Monroe at 23 Dawson West currently resides as a Deputy Marshal for the West Elizabeth/New Austin area.</p>
